About the Doctor
Dr. Dean Younker became interested in becoming a chiropractor because his dad had a bad experience with one, and was told he needed to see an orthopedic surgeon. Because of that bad experience, his dad never really wanted to give another chiropractor a chance. Eventually, however, he saw another one and it really helped, and eliminated, the need for him to see a surgeon. That personal experience made Dr. Dean Younker want to find out more about the field of chiropractic treatment.
Today he is a member of the Colorado Chiropractic Association & Grand Junction Chiropractors Association. He was recently voted “Best of the West” Best Chiropractor by a local newspaper The Free Press.

· What is Chiropractic? ·
Chiropractic is a health care discipline which focuses on the inherent restorative power of the body to heal itself without the help of drugs and surgery. The practice of chiropractic emphasizes on the connection between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as organized by the nervous system) and how that association affects the recovery of your health.
· The Goal of Chiropractic ·
Since chiropractic treatments are mainly applied to the spinal area, many people incorrectly presume that chiropractors only treat back and neck problems. While we do swiftly and successfully remove back and neck pain, it’s not the sole objective of our practice. The objective is to reinstate and improve human health. In fact, according to most practitioners of chiropractic, ensuring the overall improvement in your health is the goal.
· The Benefits of Chiropractic ·
Short-term and regular chiropractic care offer benefits including spinal and extremity pain relief, headache relief, enhanced mobility and range of motion, reduced stiffness and muscular spasms, arthritic joint pain relief, improved joint health, increased performance and energy, increased sense of well-being and relaxation, improved balance and coordination, lower degeneration and risk of injury, enhanced tissue healing, and reduced tissue inflammation.
Your spine degenerates in 4 stages or phases.
· Degeneration Phase 1 ·
Within the first phase of spinal degeneration, the individual does not really feel much agony. If you have the condition treated right then, the damage can frequently be fixed. You need to get chiropractic care immediately before the phases of the condition get to be too difficult to fix. During this stage, the spinal shape and spine balance is decreased from normal. What’s more, the discs, joints and nerves experience stretch and age faster than normal.
· Degeneration Phase 2 ·
By the second phase of disc degeneration, you are liable to experience torment, throbs, push and weariness. Regardless, there is still the opportunity to improve the condition during this stage with chiropractic care, and this is the last stage when genuine change is conceivable. Subsequently, it’s vital to get chiropractic care immediately. This stage is portrayed by the plates narrowing, the bones distorting and the stance deteriorating.
· Degeneration Phase 3 ·
During spinal degeneration’s third stage, you will presumably encounter a loss of vitality and your height would lessen by this point. Since there are a considerable number of issues at this stage, you will encounter more physical and mental pain. At this stage, it is still feasible for chiropractic treatment to diminish some of the impact. This stage incorporates nerve damage, and the bones and discs start disfiguring.
· Degeneration Phase 4 ·
On the off chance that you’ve reached the fourth phase of spinal degeneration, it implies that the condition is irreversible. Much of the harm that has happened is presently perpetual. You have unsalvageable nerve damage, scar tissue and twisting. Right now, we can offer pain management and medicines to ensure as much comfort as possible. In case you have not yet reached this point, make sure to begin treatment immediately to keep the condition from getting worse.
· History of Chiropractic ·
Chiropractic was established in 1895 by Daniel David Palmer, a food merchant with an exceptional enthusiasm for metaphysics. Before his revelation of chiropractic practices, D.D. Palmer was a magnetic healer. Likewise, he was intrigued by phrenology (diagnosing ailment in view of the shape of the skull) and mysticism. Palmer was to have found the principles of chiropractic when he professedly cured a janitor of his deafness by controlling his neck. The fact that the nerve which passes on sound from the ears to the brain does not go through the neck did not appear to trouble Palmer, although it remains uncertain whether he was even mindful of this.
Palmer coined the term “chiropractic" which truly signifies “done by hand,” to allude to his new treatment. He contended that all ailments are brought about by subluxated bones, which happen to be spinal bones 95% of the time, and which disturbs the flow of intrinsic intelligence. He didn’t subject his thoughts to any type of examination, but instead went specifically to treating patients and to showing his methods to his students who went on to become the first generation chiropractors.
As a family chiropractic clinic today, Peak Performance Chiropractic Clinic is indebted to the contributions of Daniel David Palmer and his successors.
